Want me to make you a Rock Star Baby?

I just had to.......

This is not a hub about me, as much as it is a critical hub for you. Information for our children. Weapons to hopefully educate them enough to not want to be any kind of Rock Star. Rock is the common and most widely used term for crack cocaine.

When it came impossible to feel,

due to the fact I had died,

and been incinerated,

I sometimes held my phone

making up some embedded code,

I could punch in,

like it was normal,

in the mirror'

I faced the void,

held my black balloon, either to hide from, or merge with that darkness,

I had to hit it

Rock, Powder = Cooked and Rails

That was the first time I heard of crack cocaine. Offered to me by a dealer. 'want me to make you a rock star baby?' Parents especially need to read this Hub. Awareness is our only weapon to prevent our Kids trying a very addictive drug, crack cocaine. A pre-cooked form of what we knew in the 80's as freebasing.

I admittedly, more than once, have discussed my IV daily drug addiction for a few decades. Cocaine I was injecting daily but I had never even heard of crack cocaine until 15 years after administering powder cocaine in every possible way I knew of.

I will speaking a great deal, when I can remember, in street talk, drug talk, industry talk. This so you can take note of these 'buzz' words, as your children may think, for example' you have no idea what rock means and discuss it. There's a good indication to seek the flag.

Back to being a rock star, we must, we must teach our children what to look for to spot a dealer, the best we can. I know, I was one. I never sold to kids but I have nightmares thinking of how many adults I sold to, did sell to kids, and take responsibility for that.

'War on Drugs' is a smart bumper sticker some politician made to demonstrate the positive action to clean up our Country. It sure worked during the onset, but see, we're not blind and we're not dumb, now seeing the war on drugs is a huge money maker and fact is, the financial loss would be astronomical everywhere should the drugs not be making millions rich.

Big Misconception

The first thing that is critical that you know, crack left the ghetto a long time ago. Misconceptions that crack is still cheap, smoked by the Black and Latino race, in low income areas only, is a very big myth.

The supply cannot fulfill the high demand of crack today. I refer to both low income and high income, famous people, athletes, teachers, doctors, kids, public transit drivers, and for some time, me.

The term crack head with severe negative meanings is widely used, if not solely used. Referring in proper terms to someone who does drugs.

This term comes from the fact crack addicts get very dirty, the oil and ash from the rock and pipes is black and gets everywhere. This combined with it's side effects. THERE ARE NO SOCIAL CRACK ADDICTS> Therefore a crack addict does not eat, no appetite, does not waste their time showering, usually has to smoke in tunnels, stairwells, crack houses, behind buildings, dirty gas station bathrooms, places to hide from cops and still have the freedom to smoke as long as their supply lasts.

Crack addicts, that I have witnessed, and lived as one, have to deal with an extremely highly addictive drug. Most often from the first hit. It is so highly addictive from a mental obsession more than a physical need. A rock is smoked through a pipe, a very intense buzz lasts different lengths in different people. The first 20 seconds is the bomb. Then an instant craving for more sets in and intensifies by the minute. There is where the drug owns you and most people when they run out of money, will do anything to get more.

Coming down from the high is the most intense rock obsession for about 2 hours. It however, never leaves your mind of cravings.

I'd be lying to you if I said writing this hub isn't creating tremendous cravings for me. Years later the obsession sits, it waits, it snickers, it's smart, if I let it, win it will. But I am graced with tools and addicts in recovery that have become my antidote for these craving

How is it made? Is it dangerous?

Any drug is dangerous, when making [cooking] it at home, we increase the risks of damage greatly. Know some dangers such as increasing poisonous fumes, your dealing with fire, the temperature of the oil will scar your skin permanently, and while seemingly irrelevant, the most common risk is spillage wasting thousands of dollars and staining a platform, easily detectable by DEA.

One last notation, the dust from rock I have seen up close take pupils way from rubbing eyes, permanently burn the centre of lips from thousands of numbing tokes that also burn, then the obvious loss of teeth, hair, the reproductive system and severe emphysema.

Now, rock cocaine is exactly just that. Cocaine, cooked into a very hard rock.

The term or name crack actually originated from the crackling sound it makes when smoked, as the rock is heated, bubbling and melts into smoke.

I was a paid 'chef' [the name of a cook to crack'] It was a very expensive learning curve as I taught myself and experimented.

However I see no reason nor benefit to explain a recipe for crack. I'm sure you can respect why. It is cocaine with 2 activating elements found in every home and heated then shocked cold. That I tell you so you can see how easy it is to make. Most users however do not have the environment or elements on hand to do so or experience. It is also prefered to buy 'ready to use' as quick as possible.

If there are any questions or concerns for a loved one with drugs you can comment or email me anytime, please I know I went to the gates of hell so I could return to offer the addict still suffering something.

How do you buy it? Dealers?

Here's where we can really help knowing what our children are being exposed to.

I am not going to go into the details of scoring dope. It serves no purpose or offers no help and is done in a multitude of ways. However scoring dope and being around other children doing crack or if your children are doing crack along with dealer 'lingo' I offer words here should you hear from your children or there friends that act as a huge flag, crack has or is around their life.

Your children, like we were as children, never think our parents are hip to the scene. We are old and don't get it. It's time to get it cause the war on drugs is this stage, these moments these tell tales.

So here are some buzz words that as far as I know if used by children are or have been exposed to crack;

  • rock [crack]
  • chop [cut some off]
  • cook [make crack]
  • pipe [for smoking]
  • harden [cooking]
  • rock star [dealers offer]
  • piece [one rock]
  • tight [good cook]
  • score [buy]
  • buzz [high effect]
  • sample [to hook you]
  • yellow stone [crack piece]
  • paper [money]
  • gram, ounce, [quantity]
  • 20 30 40 50 piece [small quantities]
  • point for point [dollar for ever .1 weight]
  • scale [weighing purchase]
  • uncle [dealer]
  • friend [dealer]
  • chopper [dealer]
  • seller [dealer]
  • rush [initial high]
  • sweet [good dope]
  • front [dope free owe money]
  • screen [used in pipe]
  • res [oil left in pipe]
  • black rock [cocaine cooked with crack oil]
  • bang [injecting]
  • breaking down [thinning crack to injectable substance]
  • flagging [blood choice injections]
  • tie [arm strap to pop veins]
  • track marks [scars from banging - injecting]
  • crack house [dirty dangerous squatter filled smokers place]
  • train spotting [injection marks]
  • abscess [injected miss - infected cyst]
  • paranoid [strong effect of crack]
  • crack head [crack user]
  • what are you saying? [how much?]

this is a good example of words I believe would be flags as most of these words really would not be common in a child's vocabulary normally. Learn these, know these just have these. May none of you ever hear anything of this.

Getting off it

I won't lie

Not easy.

Requires daily recovery and treatment. Your child, should s/he be addicted to crack will not get clean until they are ready or /smoked out/ sadly most cases like my own, not until everything and everyone is gone. Living in that kind of fear is not deserving of anyone, don't care who you are.

The good news recovery is possible, just not alone. Remember your child is not a bad kid trying to be good but rather a sick kid trying to get better.

I don't believe in tough love, rather a love of understanding and soft approach. Not suggesting to enable any child just the same.

Please email me if you need help on next steps or finding an affordable rehab. You are not bothering me, but if I can help you, it helps me.

Again the war on drugs can be won, but it has to be clipped at the stage of our beginnings

If you are reading this and using, stay safe, stay sharp, be smart, weigh the consequences and know you are not bad or alone. Reach out.

Wherever your at, you must stay as safe as possible. Staying alive is the most important thing in life

I hold no pride in living as a 'crack head'

but hold tremendous empathy for the

addict that still suffers, and may this hub

My hat's off to Kim for her own strength and resolve, but also her gutsy discussion of those shadowed things we fear to talk about to our kids. But we have to learn about all the signs: the tools, the lingo, how the kids act....even if our kids don't use. Statistically, they know someone that is a user...or maybe even a dealer.

Perhaps they've been to YOUR house... pay attention...talk to your kids....plug yourself in...the consequences are that important.....

sligobay, that validation helped tremendously. None of us want to look at this its ugly scary and certainly won't apply to my children some say

this is the really scary art

It's the leading drug in partnership with meth with kids starting as early as 13

Thats our war on drugs, ignoring this hub is like feeding the opportunity of what could come

please know your help is much appreciated

Kudos to you for looking at this topic head on. It's hard to bring something up that triggers feelings of anxiety and want, it takes courage. I have a good friend who's bro is an addict. It makes it a tough family situation, but they use soft approach, as you suggest. Good luck to you, you have a promising future..

Very well portrayed Kimberly, even my country Pakistan though is today notorious for many things, but in the last 20 years, drug production and addiction has increasingly become just one of them.

The issue of drug addiction is often overshadowed by the many of the country's other human development problems, such as poverty, illiteracy and lack of basic health care. But the fact is, drug abuse is rapidly growing in Pakistan and in South Asia in general.

Good for you, Kim. You are reaching out to help others with the same problem and giving the parents a decent heads up, so they can tell to help.

I do understand addiction; we do things we love to do that harm us. Whether it's smoking cigarettes (I plead guilty there) or drinking too much, or overeating...whatever bad habits we acquire, they are hell to break.

When it comes to highly addictive and pernicious substances like crack, it's even more hell, but the alternative is a horrible life and a bad death.

KL,

You are amazing- stronger than you look, wiser than you could maybe even know. Experience is knowledge and your a genius, I wish you never had to go through that, even talking about it makes you my hero that is brave and caring, and getting beyond all that is admirable. I know people with addictions are never "cured" but only in long term remission. OK- here comes the typical light hearted farcical psuedo-personal TH situation....

I my self got into the vile although not violent world of the milk dud/ chocolate trade....I was hooked 6-7 boxes small size three reg sized or even two jumbo boxes a day.... slowly that went from milk duds to Raisinettes I never went to Goobers though I had to stop there, I got out of the chocolate covered game and went to straight chocolate chips frozen chips on ice cream a little between the cheek and gum.. I finally got out but I still have the cravings...Please don't think I am making light of of your hub. I hope I made you smile and dont think I don't know we ALL have ddictions- be it food, sex *coughHarveycough*, alcohol, animals or competition. I am again ever impressed by you Kim, you are one of the strongest people I have met,

Stay clean and safe -

know you have people rooting for you...

"When it came impossible to feel,

due to the fact I had died..."

Great Line. All too often an addict dies, loses him/herself to the drug. Loses everything as you said. You went through hell with this and I am so glad and proud of you to have made it through and to write this hub. its very powerful, and people need to know. I hope you never resort back to that lifestyle. I will never try any drug, only drug I have tried is marijuana, and I dont like it much. I had a couple of bad highs, i usually just get a bad headache from it, so its not for me, and I wouldnt waste the time or the money on it. same goes with ciggarettes, which to me is still a drug, and a very addictive one, I have and never will try smoking, but my boyfriend smokes a lot, he is very addicted, it is more a physical need than a mental he says, your body actually craves it, and he gets really irritated easily if he goes without smoking, it stinks, it rots your mouth, and its a big waste of money, i wish he would quit, but I know the effects are nothing compared to the effects from crack, cocaine, heroine, any of these substances, and the addiction i'm sure is much more worse also. You have been through so much, and made it through, strong and powerful you are kimberly, prey, be your own master, and conquer any foe, addiction is one of them, cravings another. Never give up.

I never had a drug addiction, for that i'm so thankful. I tried to smoke pot, all it did was make me clean out the frig. I never really liked it. I learned a lot from this Hub. I have Grandchildren who needs to know what happens when you do drugs. I can't imagine them doing them but it never hurts to know the lingo. Kimberly your service to mankind is wonderful. People will listen to you, you've been there, who better to tell the story? Thank you so much. You are an inspiration to many.

Very nice and well written hub! It's kind of scary how these stuffs invaded our life. They come in so many forms that's almost impossible for us to recognise them all. Well, at least I learn a dozen of things by reading this hub now.

I do not have a children yet but of course, would love to have at least one in the future. Today's education has somewhat a let down compared to education in my time. Almost everyday, I hear discussions among my colleagues about how disobedient their children can be as they are growing up. It's kind of concern me as to what is the better way in raising a child. But then I guess you just don't know what you don't know, right?

Obviously it's near impossible to go into the multitude of reasons any of us choose, or even not choose, but, perhaps, physically or emotionally need, to use any drug of choice, but I believe it's prudent to at least to talk about the love and support any of us need to counter the need for, the sometimes overwhelming draw for, and perhaps even romance of any particular drug...

Certainly our culture is Ok with a multitude of prescribed and even self-determined drugs to help us with our day to day lives, but again, I believe, in each and every case, and I'm not even talking about necessarily affecting the amount or type of drug one uses, but that, whatever the case, when we have someone at our side, or bedside, or even at the other end of a phone call, who loves us, respects us, offers a kind word of support, or better yet, unconditional love, that we can't help but live richer, fuller lives, and in that moment, feel like we have some self-worth, that we really mean something in this all too often miserable world of ours, that we're not alone, and that, my friend, is a most beautiful thing...and perhaps...what life really is about...caring enough to be there for someone who needs us...or better yet, cared for no matter what by some incredible person who sees us as a simple person who only wants to be loved...
